Our Mission

La Posada's goal is to provide services to women and children within the El Paso area who have been traditionally underserved. We help women and their families reach their potential and gain the confidence that their lives can be improved. We also help them realize that they have many untapped skills and that they can live in peace and attain their life's goals.

Our Guiding Principles

· We base our programs on respect for the dignity of life without regard to race, color, creed, religion or national origin.

· We work in partneship with community and neighborhood groups, as well as other agencies or organizations.

· We are fiscally sound and accountable to our funding sources, donors and the community stakeholders.

· We provide individualized services to help families make the transition from a group to a family living situation.

· We expect each family to gain self sufficiency and acquire the skills to interact with the community in a procuctive and meaningful manner.

· We respect diversity, individual needs, beliefs and values.

· We respect the culture, language and customs of the clients we serve without discrimination or a lack of tolerance to veiws different than our own.

Admissions

Upon admission, all residents receive counseling to discuss their needs, hopes, and goals, so that an array of services can be offered to help her meet them. The home also encourages the women to assume responsibility and recognize the importance of providing stability for healthy physical and mental development of their children.

Our Philosophy

The living philosophy of La Posada has evolved during its last nineteen years of operation. Our residents are able to express their feelings and thoughts, they are also empowering themselves to make decisions about their own lives. The women are becoming accountable to others and themselves, they feel a degree of personal control that they were lacking prior to becoming part of La Posada Home.

The philosophy of La Posada is to enable each individual, who is part of the community, to reach their fullest potential regardless of past history and experiences. There is an unconditional, positive regard for the goodness of the person, without a judgment to foretell future success based on previous shortcomings or failures.

This living philosophy is endorsed by the Board, employees, and financial supporters of the home. It is fully incorporated into the admissions process, hiring of employees, volunteer programs, and recruitment for board positions. Also, the policies and regulations of the home incorporate the philosophy that each person must assume responsibility for their own decisions.
